Always a pleasure to visit a classic in breakfast diner chains. While the staff is typically overworked, there are quite a few that do their job incredibly well. Pretty decent food and still a decent value ?Food: 4/5
Ah yes. Denny’s on Broad St. last 3 times have been pretty bad which is typical of this location. This one has driven the final mail in this coffin. Sure it was a little busy. That wasn’t the problem. 30 minute wait to be seated. No problem. 10 minutes later we order. 10 minutes later they seat 3 people to our left. 15 minutes later 4 people seated to our right. Now the people to our left get their food. T bone steak and two breakfasts. Same server as us. Couple minutes later I say to our server what’s up? He blames kitchen. 45 minutes later no food. Apparently he separated our orders and forgot to input most of our order. We have a one and two year old with us. So here we are with everyone who was behind us got their food while we still wait. Funny thing. The four people who sat 30 minutes after us got their food before us too. He brings two more adult meals then realizes he totally forgot the kids meal. Of course we had to pay for that one to be bagged to go. This broad st location has always had employee and General Manager problems. It’s not about meeting expectations. It’s about at least making an effort to run that location professionally. Oh btw when it was all over this moron of a server actually took responsibility. The GM was literally 6 feet away from us and didn’t notice we weren’t being handled? Poor management reflects in poor service. We chose to wait. There won’t be a next time. If any of you run into the same problem wait until they finally serve your food and then walk out. That MIGHT get the bosses attention. Visit at your own risk
Great food also a great young man served us, quick and good Thank you.
Prior to the pandemic we visited this location once or twice a week. We have only purchased takeout from restaurants over the last three years due to health issues. We were so excited to come back and see Karen, unfortunately we missed her by a couple of hours when we arrived at 8:30pm on 02/18/2023. We were greeted by the night manager who informed us our waitress had gone down the street to Sonic to get her a drink…this was the only waitress on shift. There was ONE other table seated in addition to us. The night manager took our order and when Demesha returned from Sonic she brought us our food. Demesha never checked on us after that, my husband had to go to the counter twice for service, once for syrup because it was out of commission on our table and next for a drink refill. Demesha never even returned to give us our check. We were SO excited to be in a restaurant again and had planned on rewarding our server with a $20 tip on a table of two. The food was delicious, but the service was terrible. When my husband went up to the counter for the second time Demesha was sitting in a booth and the night manager said “well, you sure are being neglected by your server”. We went to the front to pay and Demesha asked how our visit was, I told her that I had just tipped her 20% that she did not earn and that I was not trying to be unkind, but that I hoped it would encourage her to do a better job with her next customers. She never apologized, never said thank you, and rolled her eyes as we left.I hope Karen is doing well, she is such a gem, but we won’t return. Dale, thank you for the offer of another dining experience at your restaurant, but we must respectfully decline, it was not our intention to receive anything for free by writing this review.
