Being from the west coast and having eaten at a number of CPKs, I was intrigued. One Saturday night, we decided to stop by the Mansfield location for dinner! The place itself is really cool! Love the decor, super fun and interesting. Kind of a mild steampunk vibe. The boy that sat us seemed kind of nervous and unsure, but was nice none-the-less. We got to our booth and began to look at the menu. With so many options, it was only natural to order some appetizers before deciding on pizzas. Meatballs and wings were our choices. They were out of the kitchen pretty quickly. Meatballs came in an order of 3. Wish they were each a little bigger, but the meat itself was super tasty and filled with melted cheese! Plus, I loved the big pieces of shaved Parmesan on top. The wings were mediocre at best. All of them were small in size and the jerk rub wasn 't impressive. But then again, we weren 't here for the wings. After checking out the menu at length, we decided on one medium pizza and two smalls, that way we could sample a few different flavors. We decided on a Medium Pacific Rim, and smalls of the House Special and the Holy Shiitake Pie. I 'm sorry, but I have to talk about the Holy Shiitake Pie first! Soooo delicious! This was definitely the star of the night for me! I loved all the layers of earthy, umami goodness. The savoriness of the mushrooms makes you not miss meat at all! It starts with a base of olive oil and garlic, topped with portobello, Shiitake and button mushrooms, caramelized onions, mozzarella and Mont Amoré, with a swirl of garlic aioli, a drizzle of black truffle oil and finished with fresh chive and shaved Parmesan. Heavenly! I wish we would have ordered this one as a large, which is what I 'll be doing from now on when I come here. The House Special consisted of red sauce and extra mozzarella, pepperoni, sausage, ground beef, ham, bacon, mushrooms, black olives, Roma tomatoes, green peppers and onion. This was a great combination pie. Overall crowd pleaser. The mix of meats paired with green pepper and black olive was spot on! The Pacific Rim is where our night got a little complicated. This pizza should have red sauce, mozzarella, ham, bacon, caramelized onions, pineapple and jalapeño. The pie they brought to the table had pepperoncinis on top, instead of jalapeños. Of course, Jon G. brings this up to our waiter. Don 't get me wrong, we both love pepperoncinis, but it just wasn 't what we were expecting. Our waiter, like our host, was a kind of nervous and unsure high school student. He seemed really hesitant when we asked about the mistake. He left and came back to our table a few times without any definitive answers. Then a manager came out to our table and told us they would make us the correct pizza and we were free to keep the mistake pizza. This, of course, was totally cool with us! We got the correct pizza and had some leftovers for home. The experience we had at Mellow Mushroom definitely could have been a little better, especially when it came to service and communication. In the end though, all our issues were resolved and the pizzas were awesome! We will be back :
The restaurant decor is amazing. The atmosphere of the whole place is relaxing. The service is subpar. The waitress did her job but wasn 't friendly. She looked as thou she didn 't want to be at work. The menu is extensive. Has a little bit of everything. I ordered the meatballs, chicken wings, a chef salad and a meat lovers pizza. It was all just okay . None of the ingredients are fresh. The meatballs are not home made. The chicken wings are packaged then tossed into some sauce. My wings had no sauce on them. The chef salad was good. The pizza crust was soggy. Nothing to write home to mama about. Most likely won 't be back.
If you come to Mellow Mushroom, get Jared for your waiter. He is terrific! I 'm sure everyone else is great, too! my favorite pizza is the House Pizza. Deliciousness ! My husband also likes the white pizza! Plenty of pizza for Sunday morning breakfast. Come and enjoy delicious pizza and beer at the 'Shroom! Yum. Thanks for the happy birthday dessert!
We have eaten at MM restaurants in over 5 states. Their funky decor and amazing pizza crust keep us coming back. I Tonight we had a couple of glasses of wine, a few tossed salads, some pretzels and 3 small pizzas (each person in our group got his/her own). There was a red potato pie, a house special, and a great white w/ grilled chicken added. All were fantastic! The red potato pie has sliced potatoes, sour cream, and chives. The house has meats and veggies (deluxe), and the great white has an alfredo base. Our bill came to about $100 w/ tip (2 wines, pretzels, 2 salads, 3 small pizzas). Yum! We'll be back!
The food is good, the staff is nice...but the service is very slow, 30 minutes to get our food and about 15 minutes to get our drinks.
