A quiet little bar where you can have a few chilled ones after some busy shopping at the Mapusa market. Friendly staff, good food.
Just what was needed after a shopping frenzy at the market. It's down a dark shopping mall and up some gloomy stairs.Once in though the place is buzzing.Big pitchers of beer and wonderful food. I had the fish and chips, unusually conservative for me. splendid chips and an excellent fish in breadcrumbs and spices. nothing British about this. Managed to get a table looking out over the busy market.authentic indian food, everybody loved it.
Visited on a Friday.... Big mistake! Couldn't get a seat so went down the road to a little local place! Went back a few beers later and The Darby & Joan Club had thinned out a little (gone for a nap after copious amounts of chips!). A couple of beers later and food began to call our name... some masala papads and a portion of chicken chilli fry was ordered. What arrived can only be described as excellent. Fantastic flavour and beautifully cooked. If you're in Mapusa, pay this quirky little bar a visit... Excellent value and always throws up some interesting viewing.
I enjoy visiting this restaurant because the food is delicious, affordable, and the atmosphere is relaxed, reminiscent of Goa. You can spend hours watching people bustling around the local market while savoring the crispy fried sardines, a house specialty. The entrance may not give away the unique Goan bar inside. Unfortunately, it seems that tourists have found this hidden gem in the busy market.
