Our first evening in San Pedro we simply picked this restaurant at random. It has a pleasant ambience the staff are friendly attentive helpful the meal itslf was wonderful. A really good night out we will be back.
I have been going to Da Bruno in San Pedro for many years and have written at least one 5 star review for the restaurant. Unfortunately, over the last couple of years I have noticed the service deteriorating and the portion size reduced, but our dinner on the 1st of January will be our last visit. I always reserve a table as, in the winter, it can be draughty at times and when I entered the restaurant I was surprised to see a couple at the table that I had personally reserved. I politely mentioned it to the manager and his reaction was unwarranted as he shouted at me TABLES! and then ranted on to say that they had been very busy all day and he had never had a break. Just then a waitress holding a tray said “Out of the way” as she pushed past. I was shocked at the managers reaction and I thought about leaving but, as it was New Years day, I might have had a problem getting a table at another restaurant nearby. The manager then said to follow him and brought us to a table beside the entrance to the toilets. That was another reason as to why I had reserved a particular table as here there was little room for people going to the toilet to get past. There are simply too many tables in the restaurant. When I arrived home I had a look at the bill. For one shared starter, two main courses, two beers, one Pacharan and a bottle of water the bill came to 89 Euros and a 10% tip had been added to the bill. I had left a 10 Euro note on the table as I always leave a tip. As for the manager, if he cannot stand the heat then he should get out of the kitchen.
Food was not as good as in the past, the risotto and bolognese were just ok lacking in flavour . We seemed to have been forgotten about at our meal and constantly had to ask for a menu, then ask could someone take our order, then ask for drinks. When we finished our meal we asked for the bill which came very promptly. My father paid by cash which he always does. We waited and waited and waited for our change. I think there was an assumption that the change was a tip (even though it would have amounted to a 40% tip . We asked for our change the waiter was very gruff and went to get change and when it did arrive it was mostly in coins and small coinage (We’re talking 30 euros on a 70 euro bill! how insulting ! As much as I used to love da Bruno’s the service let us down and I don’t think I will return
