Restaurant le Vieux Puits - Marcigny

Four of us ate lunch in the spacious back room. two of us ate the plat de jour and the other two from the car. waiters were attentive and pleasant. the whole place was spotless, including the kitchen. will surely return. Thank you.

Yummy plate du jour and great value for a 5-course lunch after the walk through the market, worth a visit and a great lunch

Monday is the market day and the atmosphere occupied on the square and the restaurant saw a popular place. we came around 12 and managed to get a table. the menu de jour was excellent with a green lens and mushroom starter, followed by pig...Steak, which really succulent with a delicious sose and green bean, excellent cheese selection and with a pear and chocolate tea with lots of fresh crust bread, wee and coffee at 13 euro is remarkable worth. service was excellent and the ambiente and the environment good quality and pleasant with helpful staff and certainly back to another visit.

Midday lunch on a Tuesday at Les Vieux Puits, right on the market square in Marcigny. Menu incredibly priced at 13 euros INCLUDING cheese AND dessert AND coffee. Is it fine dining ? Of course not, but it 's very good indeed. Small charcuterie plate to begin,...followed by three perfectly cooked chicken drumsticks over fair curry rice. Cheese board left at table so we could take as much as we wanted, with five different cheeses to choose from. Very good chocolate mousse with little savoyard cookies buried within, along with a couple of pieces of fruit. Nice. Rapid service. Great experience, pleasant setting in the square.

We have eaten here a number of times on our visits to Marcigny. We have not been disappointed. The set lunch menu for 12.5 Euros is excellent value and includes wine or a soft drink. The cheese board is excellent too! There are other set...meals and an a la carte if you don't fancy the set lunch menu. You will need to book if you visit here on Mondays as it is market day and the restaurant will be full. Enjoy!
