Amazing experience at this winery yesterday and not like any other wine tasting I’ve experienced Damijan and Sabina were excellent hosts and clearly passionate about wine. Got to try all the wines (think there were 11 in total), as well as a lovely platter of local cheeses. We also got a tour of the cellar. It took less than an hour to walk from the centre of Maribor. There were 6 of us in total and Damijan really brought the group together by engaging with everyone and telling some funny stories.
The owners of this vineyard are amazing. When we arrived they were actually closed and packing for their holiday. Instead they dropped everything and made time to do a quick 3 wine tasting. 3 wines eventually turned into 11 wines because the host was so passionate about their whole organisation. I would give 10 stars if it was possible. Thank you very much!
Best wine tasting I've ever done, and I usually strongly prefer reds. They are kind and warm, but I also learned so much. We had wine pairs like chardonnay that had been oaked versus stainless steel, rieslings from different years, and so on to really highlight the subtle differences. Comfortable venue, great service. Damjan is very entertaining.
Wine is better when it is shared. And Damien knows how to share his passion for wine. The degustation lasted 4 hours and we tasted 13 wines (10 in the dining room and 3 un the cellar). We visited the cellar. It's a small family owned winery producing 40,000 bottles per year. They almost exclusively produce white wines with a sparkling and a rosé. Highly recommended, by far the most enjoyable wine testing ever! Thank a lot Damien.
