We were looking for some sunflower fields near Maricopa, AZ (Pinal County, not Maricopa County; yes, you read that right! when we happened upon this random strip mall out in the country. Hubby spotted what looked like an interesting restaurant, so we decided to stop and check it out. Whoa, it was amazing! I asked our waitress where we were and she said an unincorporated town called Hidden Valley. I also asked if she knew where the raceway was that is mentioned in the name, and she said there is no raceway and she had no idea why the owners named it that! Ha ha! The fun didn 't stop there: The walls (and ceiling, in some places were plastered with old license plates and advertising signs. It had a very cool vibe, and there was always something new to look at while we were waiting for our food. We ordered a beer on tap (they had an amazing assortment, including several area microbrews and not just the Phoenix ones! and a Diet Coke. For our entrees hubby ordered the veggie flatbread and I ordered the Phish and Chips (they had cute names for everything on their menu! . They even had an advertising shopper for local businesses, and it mentioned that Raceway Bar and Grill had been featured on American Pickers! That is one of my fave TV shows as they are based in Iowa, where I grew up. Anyhoo, the food was very good and extremely generous portions. We even ordered a cheesecake for dessert and it was one of the best I have ever had! They had a whole old-fashioned pastry case with all of their pastries on display. Just had a very comfortable and fun vibe. It even had a patio, which would be fun in cooler weather. We will definitely be going back!
We came on the Saturday before St. Patrick's day so there was a bagpiper playing. It was nice when he was across the restaurant but it was just so loud when he was within 20 ft of you. Also they seemed very busy but the staff seemed to handle the tables well. We got pizza, wings and fried pickle spears. BBQ wings were perfect bar food. Pickle spears were good but definitely have to eat with knife and fork. The breading falls off completely after one bite. Pizza was crispy thin crust with just the right amount of sauce and toppings. Must have if you like crispy thin crust pizza!
Been going here a lot of years. Really nice bar to drink at. Best pizza in town. The ambiance speaks to my soul.
Perfect spot to get cooled down, grab a beer and shot and a pizza. Good vibe, friendly bartender and the pizza is good. Would recommend.
We were absolutely blown away by the hospitality, service, and the wonderful patrons at this establishment. Passing through town I looked this place up randomly on Yelp. And we decided to stop by because we read it was pet friendly everyone patronizing the establishment was absolutely amazing. The staff was super friendly and we had an amazing pizza. It was just so much fun to walk around the grounds and see all the amazing treasures that the owner has collected over the years. Once the pizza came? It was pretty darn good too. We powered through that in no time at all. And they even made a hamburger patty for our dog Piper. I will definitely be back to this place again in the future. If you're in town, it's absolutely a must.
