Olive Tree - Maries

Almost laughably bad. A beautiful spot in itself. And a friendly older lady who ran the restaurant on her own. There were two of us and we ordered a rice soup, a chicken salad and an omelette. There was another couple who had also just come in. The lady went to work in the kitchen and after ten minutes came to bring our drinks. Fifteen minutes later, slightly burnt toast. She then went to prepare dinner for the other couple, which took about half an hour. Finally an hour later the chicken salad arrived. There was no real love here, euphemistically speaking. When I asked if she could estimate how long it would take, she said that she had just served the rice soup and that she would start making the omelet when it was ready. I then kindly let the lady know that she could save that trouble. I don't easily give negative reviews, but I chose this place partly because of the good reviews. Unfortunately that was not our experience

Back in Zakynthos and looking for places to visit, just realised we stumbled on this taverna last year and had a lovely meal, including the delightful older lady giving my husband a bag of raisins drying out in the sunshine. Memories!!

Just perfect Authen tick Greek family restaurant Extra fresh fish! And very well cooked Don't go there to have a huge choice, or to be in a hurry (she cooks like at home, on demand!!! I strongly recommend, the food is amazing, it's a full local and authentic experience. If you decide to go, take your time to enjoy the greck culture and talk to the owner.
