The service at this restaurant was excellent. A special thank you to Brian. The food was expertly prepared and absolutely delicious. Overall, we had a wonderful dining experience. TG.
Service was incredibly terrible that ruined the experience. We wanted appetizers, but when the waiter finally got killed, we knew what we wanted for dinner and just wanted to eat. He asked if we had any questions, my wife asked one and ran away after he had answered them and without waiting to ask if we were willing to order (or even for another question). It was over 30 minutes before another waiter asked if he could help us since we had waited so long. We saw our waiter only 2-3x in the almost 2 hours it took for our two meals, the other waiter helped us most of the time. Food was good (not unbelievable), but the waiter paid another table bill on my credit card and that took another 10 minutes to correct. When we finally worked out this, we saw that we were overloaded, but didn't want to wait for the repair, as we had already missed a lot of our date night. We tipped the replacementsitter and didn't tilt us. We were 1 out of only 7 tables with customers, and 3 waiters, so that was not the problem. We're not coming back.
This place has all the potential to be as chic and popular as any Midtown ATL ice cream. The food was great (including several gluten-free options that made them very good for the taste, no joke). The service was also excellent - we got dissertation level knowledge from our waiter. They have invested in good decorated lighting, wall and ceiling coverings, and tables and stands do not feel cheap at all. But this place doesn't quite know who they are, or it seems. And I guess it's the reason why they can't get the last star on several of these reviews. I love the band The Killers (I heard 3 of their songs while I was there) and a Bachman Turner Overdrive song too! But do you really mix these with my butcher steak over gluten-free risoto of my date Vegetarian Lasagna? C'mon Zeal. Just get a DJ to play on Fridays/Saturdays pretentious lounge music or put on a low-level electronics nobody understands. Get the waiting staff in any color. Most people want to feel cooler than we are actually, and we pay for the privilege. As it was, I felt very satisfied with the food, price and service, but the ambience confused me.
The food and service were outstanding! We hadn’t been to Zeal in a while and now we aren’t sure why! Will be back soon!!
