1850 And Brewery - Mariposa

On March 24, 2024, our last night in Mariposa, we decided to return for one final meal, and it did not disappoint. This time, we indulged in two salmon plates topped with fig purses and mashed potatoes, one ribeye steak, and an 1850 burger. Both the steak and salmon were phenomenal—so soft and tender! We couldn't resist dessert this time and ordered the s'mores brownie and the churro donut. I’m really bummed we don’t have an 1850 location near our home because this restaurant is fantastic. The ambiance is lovely, too; I adore the brick walls and the sliding doors between the tables, which provide a nice sense of privacy. The servers were incredibly friendly, and the girl who assisted us was new but so sweet. I wish I had taken pictures of our dishes, but we dove into our meals so quickly that I didn’t get the chance. Overall, an amazing dining experience!

I highly recommend trying the 1850 restaurant if you are looking for a place that has the best seasoned meat even for vegetarians) in town. I came here with my family and each item that we ordered was delicious. The tri tip had an amazing bbq sauce. The salmon was seasoned to perfection. The mediterranean salad had a quinoa patty which tasted like meat for anyone who is vegetarian. The burgers were juicy and flavorful. The staff was very attentive and checked in frequently to refill water and ask if we are enjoying our meal. I recommend calling ahead for a reservation. I had a group of 8 and they were able to seat us right away but I can see how the place can get busy and fill up fast during peak hours.

The decor was charming, featuring wine corks and sliding doors between tables. I must say, the Ahi nachos were phenomenal! I can’t recommend them enough; the ahi tuna was incredibly fresh, and the ginger soy wasabi ranch drizzle added the perfect balance of sweet, spicy, and creamy flavors. The wonton nachos were also deliciously crispy. For a lighter option, the chicken salad was just right. The baked salmon was tasty as well, although I found the sweetness of the fig topping a bit overwhelming – it dominated the dish. The drinks we ordered were inventive, fun, and very enjoyable, if a tad on the sweet side, but that’s not much to complain about. Overall, we had a fantastic first night out in Mariposa!

The service outside was excellent. Hostess Paige was attentive and made sure we had everything we needed; she was very friendly and checked in on us regularly. However, the initial hostess at the front desk seemed to be having a rough day—she was a bit unfriendly when my partner went in to place an order, and when my partner asked for water, she made a point to remind her that it was self-serve. We didn’t let that affect our experience and enjoyed our meal. As for the food, it was quite good. I had the shroom burger, which was delicious. The meat could have used a bit more seasoning, but the flavors from the sauce and mushrooms were spot on. Plus, it was cooked perfectly to medium-rare. The wings were a bit dry; the sauce had a great flavor, but I would suggest adding more to counter the dryness, which often happens with overcooked chicken. I also tried their berry stout and it was fantastic! I’ll definitely be back for a crowler of that. My girlfriend ordered the turkey sandwich, which she thought was really tasty, especially paired with sweet potato fries. One of our friends noticed that the garlic on their fries had a slightly powdery texture, but they loved their burger. We also had what I believe were the salmon patties, which were outstanding! The sauce that accompanied them had wonderful flavors. Overall, we’re definitely planning to return. Next time, I might give the Buffalo sauce on the wings a try, and I know I'll be back for more of that delicious stout!

Dinner was great. Lunch steak salad had gummy sauce on steak, made me think they were hiding a cheap cut (for the price) under some icky goop. Serve steak only on a steak salad. What a disappointment.
