Strawn's Eat Shop - Shreveport

FANTASTIC chicken fried steak cornbread. Service is a bit iffy, but that's not why you come here. You come here for an inexpensive, southern, home-cooked meal. Enjoy!

We were passing through town heading home from our cross country road trip. I googled someplace to eat; Strawn 's caught my eye. They had good ratings and looked like a good local/neighborhood establishment. We prefer to dine at local rather than chain establishments. Anyway, it was Sunday at about 1 p.m. and the place was packed! (That is a good sign! We were greeted at the door and told to sit anywhere. We sat and were immediately greeted by the server, we chatted for a bit. She did not rush us, even though the place was buzzing like a bee hive with the after church crowd. We asked for recommendations, and we ordered. Our food arrived quickly, hot and exactly as we ordered, and was GOOD. This is a five star local establishment because of the friendly, fast service, environment, choices and quality. I recommend Strawn 's and would eat there again.

Strawn's Eat Shop is a classic American diner. Pull up to the bar and watch the cook make the food while you wait or a table to talk to your friends. Food is comfort food all the way. The people knew almost everyone who walked in. Super friendly. Chocolate pie was amazing.

The food and service was super GOOD! I was disappointed in the pie. I really wanted a piece of old timey chocolate pie with meringue, it was an icebox pie. I guess that recipe departed with the legends.
