Not really a fan of the food. Ordered a sausage rice and found that the rice is very mushy. However, the service is great. The waitress was really friendly and the surrounding was quiet (except for the music) and comfortable.
This Green Grotto was beautifully set up. The vibe was completely different than their other location at Midland but regardless both were wonderful experiences. Service was good and the place was very busy! The green grotto at Midland was more low key and quiet but not here, it was almost a full house. I ordered a Maacha Hokkaido Milk tea with grass jelly and added tapioca to it. I love their tapioca here!!! it's smaller than most bubble tea places and I think it tastes much better. I also ordered Japanese beef baos!!! And honestly I feel like it's one of my new fav foods, so delicious and unique.
This is the second Green Grotto location I've been to because I liked my first visit so much. What I learned is each location has its own vibe, the Midland location is much quieter and the staff is super relaxed. This location has a bigger crowd but the staff is just as relaxed. This location also has a large selection of magazines (even though most are in Chinese? I ordered the Japanese beef bao's, they were okay in flavour but I found them to be too mayonnaise-y, but their original Hokkaido bb tea was perfect. I would come back with friends or alone for sure, but I would probably just stick to a drink order. The vibe is great t Also you can't go wrong going to a place it's complementary popcorn :
Taro Espresso Affogato with Jelly I used to frequent this location many times, and the tea was often just average but it was a nice place to hang out. However after a long hiatus and upon my most recent visit I decided to try some new menu items. The menu appears to have changed and is now in the form of a magazine. Just like before, they continue to offer free popcorn in a small tin can which is nice to snack on. I noticed that they now have new items such as maccha drinks and affogato drinks. I typically order the same thing over and over again but this new Taro Espresso Affogato drink really caught my eye so I decided to try it. It really is the best of three worlds. I thought that my drink would be purple with coffee but when it was served it was mainly a malt colour with coffee. One tip is that the drink only comes in a large size so you may want to consider getting it in a take out cup. First sip First sip experience is more than words can describe. The espresso was on point, and when mixed with taro and ice cream the flavour was just heavenly. The espresso was perfect with a bitter edge yet with a nice sweetness to it. My only problem was that when you drink from the draw the ice cream clogs the straw on your initial sip. Other than that the flavour and intensity was just perfect and on point. The jelly added to the bottom of the drink was perfect as well. Initially I thought that it was grass jelly but instead it was regular jelly but made it really fun to drink. The jelly is not the soft type of jelly but the one with the harder gelatin texture with almost no flavour but made the drink perfect. They are perfectly cut into tiny rectangular prisms which leads me to believe that it is not grass jelly but is bubble tea jelly. So to finish it off I highly recommend the Taro Espresso Affogato with jelly!!
