My bf is celiac and every time I go there I just remind her of it and she take extra precaution and he hasn’t been sick yet. Also, this place has the best jerk chicken I’ve ever eaten in my life and I Used to work at a Jamaican resturant and we just came back from Jamaica. The chicken is fall off the bone juicy.
I ordered a Boneless Chicken Roti, a Chicken Patty, and 2 Doubles from this restaurant. I was very disappointed with the Chicken Roti I received, as it had bones in it despite specifically asking for boneless chicken. The portion was small and there was an excess of chickpeas in the roti. The roti itself was not fully cooked and the taste was average at best. The service was very poor, with the only staff member appearing unfriendly and uninterested. The doubles were average, with the chickpeas lacking in flavor and overly sour from too much lemon. The Chicken Patty was standard but not made in-house. The restaurant also ran out of hot sauce on a busy Friday morning, which was frustrating. Overall, it was a very unpleasant dining experience. The owner should consider hiring better staff and changing the chef to improve the quality of the food and service.
I have dined at this restaurant twice and both meals were delicious. The homemade style dishes are very good value, especially if you order them as part of the lunch special. It is a lovely experience to enjoy your meal at one of the tables. The restaurant always has regular customers who come with the owner and staff, and there is pleasant island music playing in the background. It is a great spot for lunch or takeout. I can't wait to try more of their chicken dishes. I recommend giving it a try. A meal for two with drinks is under $18, which is a great deal!
The doubles at this restaurant were the worst I have ever been served. I waited nearly 15 minutes for two doubles that cost $3.95. They were small and unappetizing, with very few chickpeas inside. I suggest going to McCowan, Bellamy, or anywhere else instead of here.
My family and I ordered dinner from this restaurant and we had goat roti, veggie roti, oxtail, BBQ chicken, phulourie, and fried dumplings. The food was delicious and we will definitely be ordering from here again!
