This place has been around for as long as I can rememberIt is a staple in the First Markham Place Food Court.
Yan Can Cook is a located in the popular First Markham Place food court.
Went for a quick lunch on a Saturday. The meal was ready quickly, and I did not expect too much for a food court dish. However the steam rice was mixed with (leftover) dried cooked rice kernels, I had to spit them out otherwise they stick to my teeth and hurt when bite. I gave up eating one fourth into the meal. When I complained, the staff said that they cook new rice every morning and did not offer any remediation. Well, if a Chinese restaurant cannot cook rice right, what else can you expect. Anyway, I won't go back again.
Was in the area and stopped in for some great food. I have a few dishes that I order on a regular bases. Service is quick. Allen is usually there and we chat for a minute or two. Have been coming this location for many years, even before Allan took it over. What really impresses me, aside from the tasty food is the number of dishes and variety available. It was a favourite lunch time stop when I worked in the area and was there at least 3 times a week. It took a long time to sort out many of the Oriental food purveyors. Depending on the chef, the food can be a little over oily at times.
