Unfortunately this was not a nice takeaway meal. Firstly we wanted 40 minutes and the place was almost empty. Secondly we had issue with our order, which happens, but instead of telling us they had run out they just gave the wrong order and sent us home. Once we got home we realised we had the wrong meal, gave them a call and got the response "oh yer we ran out of that" when I asked to speak to the manager I was ignored. I then went back to the store and once again asked to speak to the manager. They hid in the kitchen until I left. The food we did get was well below average. There are so many Thai places on the coast, do not waste your time here. I ended up around the corner at another Thai place and got the right order in under 10 minutes.
I don't often give reviews less than 4 or 5/5 as I understand first hand the affect it has on businesses. I believe this review is warranted.Upon arrival the young wait staff didn't look like he wanted to be there. I didn't think much into it.We picked a table of our choice and were presented with a menu each. The decor was quite cosy in a nostalgic sense, one of us commented that it felt like we were in a Thai restaurant in Bali, or a little restaurant in Thailand somewhere. Being on the Sunshine Coast though, I don't know that, that should be taken as a complete compliment.Water was served to the table and it was ice cold. This was great! We found out that they weren't licensed and it was BYO, so keep this in mind if you do visit. It's no big deal if you do want a drink as there's a bottle shop a couple of hundred meters away. The wait staff had to be called to place our order. At this time I asked for another bottle of water for the table. No water came for about 10min so I went to the counter to ask again. This time it came out promptly. The entrees came out relatively quickly and I'm happy to say they weren't bad. The mains were quite flavoursome. We ordered Pad Thai and Prawn Thai Salad amongst other things. My Mother started eating her Prawn Thai Salad and the prawns were still translucent; they weren't cooked properly at all.Politely, after some time of trying to get the wait staff's attention, we asked that the prawns be cooked some more. The dish came back and the prawns had gone from raw to undercooked. This was very displeasing. It's unfortunate as the rest of the Salad had fantastic flavours.Even though this was a Saturday night, there were only 4 small tables occupied including ourselves. We ended up here after being turned away from our usual Thai restaurant for not having made a booking, and them being full.We won't be back to Thai at Night unfortunately.
I have never written a totally negative review on any restaurant in my adult dining career. The $10 curry night was recommended by a friend so we arrived full of anticipation. Great outdoor table and ordered our normal Thai menu - simple spring rolls and a green chicken and panang curry! Rice was an extra $3, fair enough and bland spring rolls arrived in ten minutes. Then after 45 minutes of waiting as everyone who arrived after us were served we questioned the teenage wait staff as to when our meals would arrive! Soon they said! Not their fault but on ordering they had no idea what was in each dish or whether it came in different levels of spice. 20 minutes later my partner had had enough and went to the kitchen and the 'supposed' head chef blamed the young waiters and promised the food would arrive promptly! The wrong meal arrived for 2 people! 2 of 3 steamed rice were raw! Chicken satay sticks were microwaved. Only 1 of the curries was eatable. My partner took the raw rice to the elderly 'head chef' who ran away into the kitchen leaving her talking to the 16 year old waitstaff. She followed him and politely discussed the experience where he offered $5 off the bill with no apology! Flabbergasted we paid and left! Never again! Sang's Thai about 100m towards Mooloolaba is amazing. Do not go here! To top it off my don pointed out the metal structure holding up the outside awning was totally rusted through! Unbelievable it was still holding up! Also quad power adapters were hanging from the ceiling like you see in SE Asia, amazing they pass council inspections!
Good family business that outwardly looks a bit below par but is a hidden gem, the Cook we know personally and she is a sweetie because she is from Asia and works hard employs the family. It has a good menu that is very inexpensive and you can take your own drinks.Curry night on Thursdays with some curries at $10.Excellent value for money is crwded on Thursdays because of the value.
