The kid was immediately served pasta al bianco that wasn't even on the menu. We shared a tuna tartar as a starter (was very good quality and big enough to share), a sea-bass and a seared tuna with pain d'epice and soft-boiled egg. Both came with sort of excellent ratatouille with breadcrumbles. Finished off with cafe gourmand that was very good as well.
Just had dinner at this restaurant as We only just arrived in Marseilles.Had the vermicelli dish, which was under what looked like, main dishes. It was actually a salad with vermicelli noodles..it was not listed under salads. Was disappointed. Also, the other thing that bothered me was that the waiter not only brought the check to me, my husband was seated opposite me, but the waiter also whispered in my ear so quietly that I had to ask him to repeat what he said., "that the tip is not included". Was quite surprised that the check was not brought to my husband and why the waiter would whisper about the tip. I have now read up on the tip protocol in Marseilles, and all were saying that the tip,is already included in all bills for cafés, restaurants...by law. Anyone else had this experience. Would like to warn future customers if this truly is a questionable thing that the waiter did. And if so, should I speak with the manager....this leaves me with a horrible feeling.
Since my colleague and I were staying just by this restaurant and didn't feel like going to the centre, we went here one evening. It had a nice ambiance and a good variety on the menu so we decided to stay. However, it seems to be severely understaffed. There was absolutely no one around to seat us and a man was standing around waiting to pay. We ended up seating ourselves, which I'm not sure if the one person on duty appreciated or not. We did see someone different occasionally come by to serve dishes, but it was sporadic. But this person did ask us what we wanted, but it was way too fast so we asked for a couple of more minutes. We should have taken our chance then since we didn't see anyone come back for awhile. When we finally actually ordered and got our food however, we were very happy. It was really good and the servings were huge so good value for money. I had the steamed vegetables with salmon. It's always hard to get a big serving of vegetables when you are eating out a lot, but this one was definitely the dish to get to get some greens and fibre, besides the fact that it tasted great. My colleague had the beef tartar and declared it one of the best she'd had in her life.I think the problem here was the lack of staff and it seemed like the restaurant was quite full so the server couldn't manage all of the work by himself. Had the service been less spotty, I probably would have given this place 4 dots instead of 3. I'd say perhaps try going here at a less busy time and then this restaurant might be perfect!
It has everything you could expect from a classy business restaurant and, believe me, after having searched everywhere, it is the only one like this in this city where food most often goes with total absence of sophistication. Food prices are very are reasonable (30 per person for a 3-course dinner) and wine list is really affordable (try the regional wines: absolute killers at 20-30 euros per bottle!). The decoration is very modern, service is good and people do smile! A must go!
Do not go here, the staff are very rude & unpleasant.A place to avoid at all costs as the owners were very rude & un wellcoming. A eviter.
