I went for the menu du jour salad, cous cous and meatballs and a tarte for dessert. If you’ve walked up to the basilica, which is 150m above sea level, you’ll be glad of this refreshment. Was pleased to go and would recommend.
The basilica of Notre Dame de la Garde is a must see on the Marseille hop on hop off bus. We were there at lunch time so tried the restaurant which is fairly roomy comfortable. The hostess staff are very friendly welcoming. The food, we had mains of grilled duck breast pork fillet with croquet dauphine potatoes, were excellent. Washed down with a carafe of local wine €5. Manna !!
The restaurant that is part of the BasiliqueNotre Dame se la Garde. Thursday is Cous Cous day so if I am around I head there for a top cous cous, nice people and great value for money, with a view.
I drank a coffee in this place after visiting Notre Dame. The service was pretty nice, and the sisters were super polite.
We had planned to visit the basilica in the morning but did not arrive until 11.30. We went straight to the restaurant as we had not made reservations and were unsure if we could get a table. We waited in line and a very pleasant hostess seated us and we had a very nice lunch. We took the set three-course lunch for 20 Euros. We had a delicious salad as a starter which included olives, shrimp and mozzarella. The main course was pork with duchess potatoes and a wonderful passion fruit dessert. Good wine by the glass and small pitcher. Good service and a menu in English.
