It's a great looking place from the street... but that's it.I always give a place sometime to work out the bugs in a new place...it's going on 3 soon.Ordered a typical Chinese plate... noodles/rice/almond chicken/sweet not sour... the basics. It was absolutely the worst I have tasted!. It was soggy with this terrible gravy type sauce.I had heard from many that this was the case for everyone, but thought I would give them the benefit of the doubt. It's really a shame as there are not a lot of choices in masset.
WOW! This restaurant is a hidden gem in the neighborhood.
The Red Dragon is a relatively new Chinese restaurant that has received mixed reviews. Some critics seem to compare it unfavorably to its predecessor, Pearl's Dining Room, but the reviewer feels that Red Dragon is establishing its own identity. The restaurant's interior is clean and well-maintained, with a catchy sign outside. The menu offers a mix of Western and Chinese dishes, typical of Westernized Chinese cuisine found on the island. The reviewer found the food to be average, with some dishes being greasy or lacking in flavor. The service was good, with attentive staff. Overall, Red Dragon is considered to be just one of many Chinese restaurants on the island, worth a visit if you are in the area but not worth going out of your way for.
Unfortunately most places in Masset were closed. On the outside it seemed ok, but the food was really very low-level. If possible go instead to the Golden PAM if you want chinese cuisine, or even better to Sherri's in Old Masset.
We, a group of three, visited the restaurant for dinner on Sunday. We ordered the meal for three, which turned out to be enough to feed five people because of the generous portion sizes. The food was delicious and the service from the friendly waitress was prompt.
