They serve big portions and for convenient pricing. super nice staff members. Keep up the good work.
Perhaps the most unique restaurant on Long Island. I remember getting goosebumps of joy during my last visit. The owners are beyond hospitable serving the paradigm of comfort food. The playlist was perhaps the best I've ever heard. And the vibe is just...surreal and seemingly too good to be true.
Hard to know where to begin. Initially I was a little concerned as I had called to make a reservation and the man who picked up the phone said he already had a reservation for that time slot and asked if I could earlier, he only wants one arrival at a time! But we took our chances and it was worth it. It is a small room in a large old home. The restaurant is essentially in the homes dining room, and the owners live upstairs. The dining room is a bit cluttered, with things but it works. The restaurant has 5 tables, and they may not necessarily be filled when you are there. A couple came in while we were eating and requested to dine there. The owner asked if they had a reservation and when they said no, they were told unfortunately they could not be accommodated and so they left. there was an available table . The owner and his wife prepare the food and do an amazing job. I have to say my roasted red pepper soup was delish and my blackened Tuna was probably the best I have ever had!!!! The strawberry shortcake was also exceptional, his wife's family recipe! The owner warmed up as the evening progressed and he was lovely to talk to. They do not have a liquor license, so it is BYOB, which , if on the north fork, is no problem bringing wine, and a real plus actually. No up charge for the glasses and service. There was no bread served, and I read on previous reviews that you can bring your own bread, but I don't know that one for a fact and can do without. So, in conclusion, if you want a great meal , in a little quirky environment, Iron Skillet is the place for you. Just make sure you have reservations !
This new find of ours is an amazing dining experience. Bob who is the host gave us the warmest welcome into his quaint restaurant/home. This is a small restaurant with only 3 tables cozy and comfortable. We started with the squash soup and my husband had the crab bisque. We were blown away by each soups flavor!! My husband and I kept passing our bowls back and forth did not want to miss the exquisite flavors. Each soup was a WOW!!! We next split the Japanese dumplings. They did not disappoint. Steamed and presented in a light soy sauce. YUMMY!! My husband had the seared tuna which was sushi quality EXCELLENT. I had the crab cakes there was NO FILLER the very best lump crab cakes I have ever eaten. All crab. Both Entrées were served with basmati rice and broccoli. I was truly stuffed but topped it off with home made strawberry short cake. I ate this slowly to savor every bite. This is a gem of a restaurant. I wish I could have ordered everything on the menu. A great restaurant experience where we felt like we had our own personal chef cooking for us!!!
