Downtown Diner - Mattoon

I took my sister-in-law there for lunch. I've been here before and wanted to show them what it was, and I was right! Wonderful homemade dishes, ingenious soup and salad bar and the cake was to die for! I think my sister-in-law will come from Danville to come back! Thank you for such a great Hometown Diner!

Our favorite place to go for breakfast of lunch. We are usualy there at least three times a week. Love there waitresses and have become friends with them. They bring us our cup of coffee automatically!!! They ALWAYS have good food!!!

Everything was great!! One small error with our order but the waitress was apologetic and fixed it immediately. Breakfast was all fresh and delicious and my omelet was perfect. I was even able to get flavored creamer for my coffee. The fresh cookies at the checkout to take home were just the icing on the cake so to speak. I got lemon for myself and just finished it, YUM! We like to go for a ride on our trike and get breakfast on Saturday mornings and this will definitely be one we return to.

Amazing experience! Food was outstanding, other clients were friendly and the staff was fabulous! Affordable. Worth the short distance off the highway and better than the corporate owned places! Will be added as our stop to and from our destinations.

Last Saturday morning for a breakfast buffet with my husband and son. It was my first time in the diner. I never had gone before because I had always heard terrible things from the PREVIOUS owners screaming in the restaurant and making a terrible experience there. Let me just say that Downtown Diner is now the place where my family will go to breakfast right now! We don't usually go to breakfast because there's no value in Mattoon. Everything was fresh, hot and delicious! From the fluffy eggs and crisp bacon over the hash and fried maize flour, everything was perfect. SUMMARY OF selection (each French toast! Our server was enthusiastic about how the kitchen staff filled the buffet. Don't wait until you decide for dinner! Before, I'm sure we'll eat lunch again! PS we got some cookies on our way. Yum! Welcome to the neighborhood Hubbarts!
