Don Juan Mexican Grill Maumee

My husband and I decided to do Mexican for dinner. We were greeted by two employees, and taken right to our seat. Our waiter was great! We can not say enough great things about Vicente C.! He was prompt on making sure we didn't have any questions about the menu, brining our drinks out and even refills without needing to ask, when our order was taking longer- he communicated that as well and made sure we didn't have somewhere we needed to be. Thank you for a great experience!

We ate at the Don Juan Mexican Bar Grill Maumee, 551 W Dussel Dr, Maumee, OH 43537 and had the best service I have had in a long time. Gina, our waitress, was very nice and offered to let me use her nail glue because my sandal broke. She helped me pick an amazing drink and made sure our party was happy with everything we got. It is nice to see people actually care about the people they are serving and not just the pay check they are getting. We will definitely be going back and hopefully Gina will be there with here bright smile!

First time there… and we were very disappointed. Food was very sub-par and tasteless. Just very, very bland food. Ate from the lunch menu which was reasonably priced. But, the rest of the food was way overpriced. Taco meat was like sawdust and had no seasoning. Salsa was like a bowl of watery tomato sauce with some Frank’s Hot Sauce stirred in. No texture or substance. Waitress was pleasant, but manager was surly and indifferent to an error with our order. Made no attempt to accommodate. Too many excellent Mexican restaurants here in T-town to spend your money at Don Juan’s. Ventura’s, Loma’s and San Marco’s are all excellent. Also, didn’t like that they checked you out with a handheld machine that didn’t work well … and we never got to see the bill to see what we were being charged. Plus, made me uneasy when the Manager walked off with my credit card … just felt shady. We won’t be back.

Michigan residents beware!!I feel like I was getting good service until Me and my friend placed a margarita order. We showed our ids which just happens to be Michigan ids. After that the service went from good to horrible. After that the waiter rarely came back. When he did come it was just horrible service. He kept getting my friend’s drink wrong, we asked him for plastic silverware and he came back with metal, when we got our sodas refilled I’m pretty sure I got regular and not diet (they’re so lucky I’m not diabetic), we got the manager involved and it seemed like nothing changed. We paid our bill and got out. I can’t help but feel like us being from Michigan had a lot to do with this, but no matter the reason the service was appalling and I wouldn’t make the drive to come back.

The staff, especially Maria was excellent. Even though she was busy I never felt neglected.
