Carton House, A Fairmont Managed

Just home after a fabulous few days spent at Carton House with friends. The customer service amongst all the staff was exceptional and everyone was very friendly and helpful. Once we checked in we headed to the spa for some fantastic treatments which we all loved very much. Later that evening we enjoyed a delicious 3 course meal in The Carriage House. Breakfast the following morning at The Morrison was also great followed by a stroll around the amazing grounds. Overall I give my stay a 5/5 and I truly cannot wait to visit again.

From upon check in, my husband and I were greeted so warmly. The customer service amongst all the staff was exceptional and everyone was very friendly and helpful. Once we checked in we had a reservation at the spa, which I loved very much, I forgot the name of the staff member who gave me a massage, but she did an amazing job. Both the the look and the feel of the room were very relaxing and it was a nice experience after a long flight. The food was amazing! We had dinner at Kathleen’s Kitchen the staff were very detailed oriented, and made sure to cater to both my husband and mines dietary restrictions, which we appreciated very much. Breakfast at The Morrison was also great. The room was very comfortable, temperature was set perfectly, and I had a well nights rest. Overall I give my stay a 5/5 and I truly cannot wait to visit again.

Im sad that CH didn’t live up to what I’d expected. I have to say the grounds are absolutely gorgeous. There’s an incredibly charming air about it in all the shared spaces. What I was very let down about were the rooms… really out of date, not very clean, and the ac is practically not working. When we entered the room, It was smelly and icky and quite disappointing. The team at the hotel is very sweet and helpful. I guess what I am trying to say is: CH is a mix of 5 star and 3 star experience. The grounds and the hotel staff are five stars, the restaurant at the carriage house itself and the food were five stars. The rooms, the cleanliness and the service at the restaurant, were more like 3 stars and felt disconnected from the place. Alas, I really came here expecting to fall in love.

I don’t think I’ve ever had a better lodging experience. The location is great, and the rooms and grounds are beautiful. Breakfast is incredible and the Carriage House food was great. However, the real stand-out is the staff and service. They were professional and attentive, but most of all extremely warm and kind. We’ve never felt so welcomed somewhere, and we were treated like royalty even though we were a little ragged from 15 hours of traveling. We even changed our trip itinerary to be able to go back another night. I highly recommend staying at the Carton House!

We have stayed here recently and it was superb from start to finish!The staff were exceptional from Brian at concierge who gave us the tour of the old house and excellent knowledge of the history of Carton to recently Shane in the Carriage House Restaurant. Shane couldn't have been more helpful and so professional. And made our experience even more wonderful with his super friendly personality. Will definitely be coming back.
