For me personally this is one of the best Mexican food restaurants in McAllen. Everything they serve tastes fresh and delicious. The wait staff are always helpful and nice. The Caldo de Res Beef Soup is superb but my favorite dish here is Carne Guisada. They alsi have great lunch specials.. NOTE: It's restaurant a bit hidden but just find the Fire Station on Dove Avenue and North 23rd and it's right behind the Station. This place is well worth checking out.
The huevos rancheros here are delicious, for 6.23 you get 3 eggs, potatoes and beans (the delicious bacon was 1.82 extra). The eggs were perfectly cooked over medium, the salsas they use for the eggs is delicious it will enhance the taste of your breakfast. The refried beans taste great, the bacon was cooked perfectly, the potatoes didn't have a great taste to them they have no flavor they could add some seasoning for color and taste, the tortillas are just okay but flour tortilla are better than corn here. The staff is very friendly, they care about their customers and the place is lively decorated. While you wait they bring you chips and hot salsa(as in warm salsa it's delicious). The coffee here is always hot and good tasting. Overall a great place for breakfast and i think they are offering Groupon if you use the App, which makes their prices even smaller.
Very Good Food, Great Service, Great atmosphere. Tried the Caldo de Res which was ok. Also tried the panchos with fajitas. Those were delicious! We will definitely come back for the fajitas.
The tortillas were really good. The restaurant felt musky, the chicken tlapeno was okay. It was extremely greasy and came as pictured. A total mess all over both dishes. The chorizo and queso was good with flour tortillas. That dish I expected it to be greasy so there was no biggy, but I have never had greasy tlapeno soup served like that. There was also no chile in it so it is not like as advertised. The service was okay. The place was very short staffed but everyone tried the best that they could. Prices were fair. Tea is not freshly brewed but it doesn't taste too bad. I might go back to try their breakfast because I really liked the tortillas. Overall 3 out of 5.
