Los Asados - McAllen

I visited this restaurant for the first time and was really impressed. The place was immaculate, so I give it a solid 10 for cleanliness. The staff was also friendly and attentive, earning another 10 from me. I enjoyed my food, and my husband loved the enchiladas he ordered. I had the sirloin tacos, but I should mention that it's not true Mexican cuisine; it's more of a Tex-Mex style. Nevertheless, the food was still delicious. The Margaritas are a great deal at just $4 during Happy Hour! While I might not return specifically for the food since I’m not really into Tex-Mex, I will definitely be back for the drinks.

Los Asados has always been one of my favorite restaurants, but I was unfortunately disappointed with the quesadilla plate today. When I opened the quesadillas to check the filling, I found very little beef or chicken—just a lot of cheese. When I brought this to the waiter’s attention, he mentioned that this is how it is served. I'll be saving my money next time; it's completely overpriced for what was offered.

I would rate this restaurant around 3.5 stars compared to others. Some dishes are really good, like the fried shrimp and tres leches cake, while others could use improvement, such as the fajita botana, which should be served with hot, fresh fajitas instead of lukewarm ones. The frozen margaritas are also a bit disappointing, as they taste watered down from the ice machine they're using instead of a dedicated margarita machine.

It's been a while since I last visited this place, and I can honestly say it was worth the stop. The food was excellent, and the service was fantastic. I have no complaints at all.

Make sure to try the beef plates—they're some of the most tender cuts you'll ever find. I believe the service is excellent as well. I've known the Rosales brothers since junior high, and their family has been a staple in the RGV community for many years.
