Melanie (she wrestles alligators) and Carolyn were terrific. They both have very friendly personalities and made us feel very welcome. Unfortunately, there were out of ribs so I purchased the pulled pork sandwich (sandwich and chips for $7) and my wife purchased the pull pork special which was the sandwich, coleslaw, beans and chips for a dollar so more. Outside they have some picnic tables maybe five or so. Inside is very small. Four tables that can accommodate two people and one larger table that can hold six.
We also grabbed a quick early dinner when taking the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway 3pm trip. We both had the pulled pork special. Good chopped pork but not great, chips are chips, cole slaw was good but nothing special. Brunswick stew was a bit thin and lacked taste but was OK. Basically this is a cute little place that is continent with a very friendly owner and reasonable prices but great BBQ it's not. OH cash only.
Stop. Just stop. You passed this place up? Ya done messed up. Come in right now, get your sub $11 fantastic half slab, eat your beans with a side of beans with a bun, coleslaw, and a (shhhhhh) free bottle of water. Then realize that you wanted a full slab and order one more because YOU ARE GETTING A PIT ROASTED HALF SLAB FOR LESS THAN $11! Came in with a big group and everything we had was affordable and most importantly tasted GREAT. Just don't get the itis and miss your blue ridge sky train. There aren't too many rides around these parts.
The food was awesome. Freshly cooked and steaming Loved all the sauces and all the tea I could drink. Staff was nice and service fast.
A cute place .... but the food was not what I expected. Price was good , but the BBQ was not very flavorful, the beans and slaw was nothing to write home about. Not a place I would return to
