As satisfied customers of the Cooked Goose Catering because of their reputation for good food, me and my wife traveled from the Oakdale area to try their newly acquired Rockys Restaurant business. This was our first visit to Rockys, the place was big in size with a nice bar and roomy dining area that was clean and well decorated for Christmas. Rockys being famous for their fish, we both ordered the small fish sandwich that wasn't small at all! The fish sandwich was one large crunchy piece of golden colored beer battered fish on a medium bun, served with a nice portion of battered coated thin fries, all cooked in clean oil. Very filling and we were able to take some leftover home. The only complaint we had is the fIsh and fries could've been served hotter in temperature. Fish was warm trending cold. With that being said there is no doubt we will return to try other menu items and would highly recommend a visit to Rockys for their fish sandwich. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive to our needs. My food suggestion to add to the menu is home made hush puppies to compliment the fish. We give Rockys a two thumbs up!
I do love this place, and I believe I actually reviewed it once, but I can 't seem to find it. And as Rocky 's is now under new management, I want to do a review anyway. I read one existing review which gave one star, and I don 't get it. I want to say they either caught the place on an extremely rare bad night, because neither I nor anyone I know has ever had that kind of bad experience at Rocky 's, under new OR old management. I 've taken a LOT of people here to eat, and the food has always been hot and tasty, and as for greasy...well, ya know, fried food, it kinda comes with the territory. So, new management has made some good changes. A cold, dark, rarely used game room has been turned into a dining space with pretty decent decor, although a change-out on the booths and a fair number of wobbly tables wouldn 't hurt. The fish here is awesome and big, no matter what size you order. Burgers are also big and flavorful. Their newest thing is the buffets, for lunch M-F, brunch on weekends, and Monday dinner. I 've been to the lunch and brunch buffets several times, and here 's my rundown: The choices are plentiful with numerous entrees, sides and veggies. Only problems my guests and I have experienced is the food not being hot enough, and the dessert running out, and I hope and expect these are issues being addressed as we speak. I would definitely recommend that the buffets give up on pierogies, however, as for some reason, they 're always little brown hockey pucks. They did a pierogie casserole once that was really good, and I 'd say stick with that on a regular basis. Really, though, whether you order off the well-rounded menu or get the buffet, Rocky 's is definitely worth the trip, so... I 'll see you there!
Wonderful food! Nice atmosphere and friendly staff.
Listened to a friend's recommendation and we were not disappointed. Rich ordered a spinach salad, bacon, grilled chicken, mushrooms and a delicious house made salad dressing. I ordered a fish sandwich, roasted cod, onion rings, Koleslaw. They have bread and beer broken cod. Portions were super generous. Server was super friendly, helpful attentive. Defender had a secret neighboring atmosphere. Your aunt's uncle would lie this place.
