The Back Room At Nick's - McMinnville

The staff were friendly and the restaurant had a welcoming atmosphere. However, I believe that given the prices, the portions could be a bit more generous, especially considering its location on 3rd Street in McMinnville. The pricing also raises some concerns. The pasta dish we ordered had a burnt taste, even though it didn't appear charred. It was dry and somewhat starchy—an al dente texture that would have improved with more sauce to soak into the dry pasta. The dish was also topped with microgreens, but they didn't do much to mask the burnt flavor, which remains a mystery to me. As for the pizza, it was just okay; I found the excess flour on the crust to be distracting. The steak was decent and cooked to our requested temperature, but it was small and basic, especially for a place that seemed to promise more. I might return if invited, but I can't say I would recommend it.

The food and service were excellent! The prices are quite reasonable considering the quality and portion sizes. It was the ideal spot for our date, and we were lucky enough to get a table just after they opened. However, while we were seated, we noticed them turning away people because they needed to keep tables available for reservations. So, definitely make a reservation if you plan to visit!

I found it really difficult to place an order here. They don’t offer pizzas for takeout, so I decided to order a couple of pasta dishes instead. Unfortunately, the items I received were completely incorrect, with veggie options containing beef and other unexpected ingredients. I expected better from a restaurant on 3rd Street.

We walked in without reservations and we were able to sit in the bar area. I had a side dish, the cauliflower as an appetizer. It was uniquely delicious. My husband had the artichoke there wasn 't much to it, but tasty. Their olive oil is definitely one of a kind. The type of olive oil you 'd find in an Italian restuarant. Surprisingly, my husband had the burger. He enjoyed it. I had the pork dish which showcased three types of pork, all delicious. The star of the dinner was their Italian margarita. I only drink margaritas everywhere I go and this one was so good and not sweet even though they add a splash of amaretto. We all taste 'sweet ' a little differently,...I 'm not a sweet tooth and rarely eat sugar or desserts. Hope you enjoy!

We visited Nick 's based on the recommendation of our concierge. It may have been built up too much. Our experience was fine. They recommended the famous burger and crab lasagna. Both were fine but nothing extraordinary. It did seem like a good value $100 for our meals with a bottle of wine. After visiting with other locals they indicated this used to be a much better place so maybe adjust your expectations and it will be fine. It 's good but not great and there are a number of other local options in McMinnville we 'll try on our next visit.
