It was OK. Decent amount of gluten free options, but both days our fries were cold, and they had trouble getting the orders right regarding the condiments on the burgers.
Only 6 of us there in our bunch, and two more people come in, waited a good 45 minutes for our food, which did not come with silverware, asked for some, by time we got it most of us were done eating our frys, sure not the service an food they used to provide.
Showed up for dinner at 5:30pm. Gates closed with a hand written sign inside saying “Closed to the public”. They couldn’t even be bothered to update their hours on google.
I can 't understand why I am choosing 4 star reviewed restaurants yet having terrible experiences! Is it just bad luck that I come on a night that their food is bad? Am I just a picky eater? I have had phenomenal experiences at restaurants but this was far from being one of them, in fact perhaps the worse restaurant experience I have had in sometime after my recent fiasco at the local Eatery on Main. The town of Meadow Lake seriously lacks good restaurants with good food. It was Persian New year, a celebration that is the equivalent of Canadian Christmas and New year combined together. I took a dear friend of mine there for a celebratory supper. I asked the ladies at work what would be a nice fancy place to go to and one of my colleagues suggested The Gold Course restaurant. The menu looked decent, nothing fancy but certainly lots of variety. When we walked in the building it looked like an old 1970 cafeteria with no décor, lots of empty space and scarcely placed cheap looking chairs and tables. The room was empty at the exception of 2 diners and it certainly was uninviting and underwhelming. It was in addition and not heated . Right away I knew we made a mistake and I wanted to walk right back out but for the sake of my friend I did not want to make a fuss and convinced myself not to judge a book by it 's cover.. the food must be awesome I thought! WRONG! One of the worse dinning experiences I ever had in my life. We wanted to order a soup for starter.. there were 2 soups on the menu and we were told unfortunately that they do not serve soup because it does not sell. Why the heck do you put it on your menu? You should ALWAYS serve what is on a menu! Disappointment #1. So I ordered Nachos with some fries and my friend ordered a Ceasar wrap with side salad. The food took almost 30 minutes to arrive and she brought out my order first and we had to wait longer for her to bring out my friend 's order. VERY AWKWARD! She should of brought out both orders together and kept the other dishes warm until my friend 's food was ready. My friend said her wrap and salad were ok.. but my food was HORRIBLE. Right away I tasted and even smelled that the tortilla corn chips were STALE and GONE BAD and tasted like they were sitting in an open bag 7 months after expiry date. I know fresh food and those Nacho chips were GROSS! I literally forced myself to eat them not to waste food and money. Had I been dining alone I would return them! The fries were overly salted tiny and broken and deep fried in oil that AGAIN tasted like stale oil gone bad that had been re used! YUUK. The young lady who served us was nice, I still tipped her but I will NEVER go back there again. Come on people.. Stale oil? Stale chips? That is a big NO NO. I get that they are not busy but they should ALWAYS check the freshness of their products.. What if I was a health inspector? Devour bar and grill was nothing but a sad and disappointing restaurant experience that made me regret every bit of my time and money.
