This is my second time to eat in this popular chain restaurant called Il Forno. This time we ate in their restaurant in Centro Comercial Mega Plaza Mayorca in Sabaneta, near Envigado. It is another beautiful area of Medellin not touristy. You get a better feeling for the local life of Medellin in Sabaneta. Somehow, the first time I ate in this restaurant, I thought it was good enough to come back. But it was average... this time I felt the same. We shared a thin crust pizza, it was nothing special. But it hit the spot. We ate everything we had a salad that was delicious; tasteful housewife dressing with extremely fresh vegetables. I would return to this chain restaurant if it was convenient to what I do at the moment, but I wouldn't look for it. It's a good standby when I'm in one of Medellin's malls. Another popular Italian chain restaurant in Medellin is Parmessano. I have eaten countless times over the years we first went there, but we were very surprised that the hostess told us that they don't have pizza on the menu. Pizza is what we believed Il Forno has a lot of pizza on her extensive Italian menu. So Il Forno is where we wounded.
After almost 6 months in quarantine here in Medellin, closed with malls and shops, I found myself in the San Diego Mall prices some bed linen (flats, pillow cases and duvets) so after a few hours past the food court to see which restaurants were open. So glad to see that some restaurants have just opened again and II FORNO was one of them. I really remember, here a few times back about 8 years ago there was an attempt. The shopping center itself was not busy and so the restaurant might have one or two tables with guests. After the temperature test at the entrance together with hand and shoe sanitary we were sitting. As a bio-safety measure, they do not use menus, but our very friendly waiter gave us the run of menus, but we ended up showing a mini menu on a potable tablet that only the waiter would not touch. All reasonable conditions. You will also give you a small plastic bag as another organic security measure that is designed to keep your face mask while you eat very clever. I settled on the OBISPO, which is meat, pasta and a small salad. My main meal was 30.900 pesos. Look at my photo. The salad was small, but very fresh and tasty, like the pasta but the meat that was a thick cut and the medium I ordered came under seldom boiled, so I sent it back to the kitchen to be boiled. A few minutes later it was cooked again med-full ans was good. This is probably the only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5. The waiters and waiters were very friendly, helpful, friendly and prompt, they all earn 5 stars for their service. It's good to finally open the shops and restaurants again.
Fantastic bruschetta, impressive pesto. Disappointing spaghetti, unless you're a child, they chop it up for you. Loads of bacon with the other pasta dish which brings an otherwise 2 star meal up to a generous 3.
Food was very good we had a teriyaki salad, steak and pasta it was very good. However the waitress asked three times if we wanted anything else other than water we said no. So I’m not sure if you have to drink alcohol to get a better service but our food took over 35-40 Minutes and not once did she ever come back To check on us. Good luck! Restaurant is in the mall so they are plenty of other restaurants to choose from.
