Royal Thai - Medellín

First, I am Thai, and have visited Royal Thai many times. It's as close to real thai in Medellin as you will find. Much better than the nearby Thaico I spoke to the owner, who is a Thai lady who touch the cooking staff and...often works in the restaurant itself. When I mentioned that a few of the dishes tasted a bit different, she reminded me that while the recipe and preparation style is traditional, some of the ingredients are local so it will not taste identical to a restaurant in Thailand. Also, keeping in mind the location (a prime corner in lleres), as well as the quality and time to prepare the food, the prices might seem relatively high as compared to the nearby restaurants, but considering the variety, and attention to detail on the preparation, it's worth it. I alway enjoy eating there and treat myself with a delicious thai meal as much as I can.

My husband and I love Thai food...and go for Thai everywhere we travel...this unfortunately, was a let down. The chicken satay appetizer was just plain, thick chicken tenders with peanut sauce on top. The soup was really bad as well. Our saving grace was the...Royal rice dish for two which was actually very good and filled with different veggies and meats/seafood. The shrimp are tiny..but that's not that big of a deal. The service was very s l o w despite us being only one of two tables there. I would go back, only for that one dish and save myself the misery of the rest of the menu.

I'm not a huge Thai food person but honestly this had a nice mix of Asian cuisines. Favorite dishes was the curry chicken and the cashew chicken was awesome!!! Pineapple fried rice very good. I warn you SLOW service and they have only a few...types of alcohol so not a full bar. Service nice! Would go again!

This place is nothing to phone home about, it's absolutely dull in menu from my opinion and very overpriced.

I lived in Thailand for more than one year and loved the food. Since I came back I have tried many restaurants of Thai food in Colombia and always are very bad. This one is the only one I can say is similar and taste...similar.
