The pub has seating in the bar area, where food can be eaten and there is also an informal restaurant section. All very clean, warm and nicely decorated. The menu was varied and reasonably priced. We both had the burgers and they were excellent. Service was very good. We really liked the atmosphere and the pub is well supported by the locals. We will definitely return. We did not stay in the pub so can only comment on the food.
We were a party of 8 and the service was good as was the food. My only concern when the food was served is that some of the meals were served on a flat wooden platter. As my partner is totally blind I was wondering how we would keep her food on its platter. However, when her food (and mine) was served it was on a conventional plate so that problem was avoided.
Having been to this pub today for a family meal out on a Sunday I was personally very disappointed not only by the limited menu but by the quality of the food. I had the roast chicken dinner which was a very small breast piece of chicken , a portion of burnt dried out roast potatoes and what looked like shop brought Yorkshire puddings which again were very dry. And served up what I think was a beef gravy ??? Very disappointed I’m afraid and will not go back again. Sorry but it’s just a personal review of only the food.
After reading the positive reviews from other customers, we booked a table for our large family and we were not let down. We were greeted warmly by a fellow customer outside and received a friendly welcome from the bar staff once inside the pub. Our orders for food and drinks were taken promptly and we didn't have to wait long before they were served. The food was tasty, hot, and beautifully presented. We will definitely be returning in the new year, perhaps to try one of their breakfast options. The village of Cliffe is fortunate to have a pub, landlord, and staff of this caliber.
My family and I frequently go to The Six Bells in Cliffe. My children really enjoy the bouncy castle in the pub's outdoor area. We often have lunch there as well, and the food is consistently delicious, hearty, and in line with traditional pub fare. The prices are very reasonable, and the portions are generous. We wholeheartedly recommend The Six Bells. It is also very family-friendly!
