We had high expectations, but were met with confused staff and confusing decor. From the unpleasant smell of petrol to staff arguments in the kitchen, our hangovers suddenly seemed like the least of our worries. Watching overpriced drinks being returned and $7.50 smoothies being delivered randomly around the restaurant left us unimpressed. Save yourself the trouble and skip Cafe TruTrack - there are plenty of other cafes in North Melbourne with better service and atmosphere at the same price point.
The highlight of this cafe is the glass window that separates the original car garage from the rear of the cafe, where a vintage car is displayed on a hoist. It is fascinating to see the memorabilia and learn about the history of the Italian family who owns the garage, which has been transformed into a cafe. The family is honored with a collection of family photos on the wall. This cafe is popular because parking is convenient and the service is quick and friendly. The coffee is excellent and the menu is appealing.
Located next to my car wash, Cafe TruTrack is a spot I frequent on weekends for a good cup of coffee or brunch. The food is tasty, and the coffee is excellent. Their homemade muffins are particularly delicious. Overall, I would say it is average and okay.
Had a long lazy lunch. Team couldn't be more accomodating. Good food. Great staff. Thanks Sam and team. We had a great afternoon. Will be back soon.
Just spent a week in Melbourne, and as we were staying just around the corner from this North Melbourne eatery, we had breakfast here each morning. Whilst in town, we also had several coffees throughout each day at various places, but none... and I mean none, were as smooth and as rich as those we had at TruTrack. Obviously, the Brothers Basil Co coffee they use is the right stuff, those folk know how to roast coffee beans! My Eggs Benedict were fantastic, as were my other breakfast choices throughout the stay. On one of the mornings, my wife ordered the Granola, apparently it's a personal recipe of one of the workers.... it got the big thumbs up. Get around this small quaint cafe, and you'll be on the Right Track for sure.
