The beer garden at this location has great potential in terms of its physical layout. However, the place was empty and outdated, the food was of poor quality, and the dishes were so bad that we ended up leaving to go to a nicer pub nearby. We probably won't be visiting this place again and wouldn't recommend it to anyone else either.
Great food! looked down and broke up from the outside! they reach the rear beer garden. but within busy and satisfied with my coupon deal
Between and , we purchased a Groupon voucher for a meal at the Commercial Hotel in Yarraville. The cost was very reasonable. We decided to make a day of it, starting with a visit to Scienceworks in Spotswood, followed by lunch in Newport and a film at the Sun Theatre. We finished off the day with dinner at Mersh. At first glance, the Commercial Hotel looked closed from the outside, which added to its charm. However, once we entered through the side park gateway, we were pleasantly surprised. We dined in the beer garden, which had a rustic country pub vibe with interesting decor, including a poster of the Tranny on the inside walls reminiscent of Oxford Street in Sydney. The atmosphere was eclectic and the diners were equally diverse, which we took as a good sign. The staff were laid-back and friendly, making us feel welcome. We ordered the Mersh parma, which was not huge but quite satisfying. The chicken was well-cooked, topped with homemade Napoli sauce, delicious mozzarella, crispy steak fries, and a fresh salad. It was a simple and honest meal in a homely style. For dessert, we had generous portions of homemade apple pie and raspberry cheesecake, both of which were delectable. To wash it all down, we enjoyed jugs of lemon squash and pots of beer. Overall, we had a great experience at Mersh and would definitely visit again. On a Friday evening in October, my family of four had a lovely dinner together there.
I purchased an online deal for a chicken parma with chips and salad. When I arrived for dinner, I found myself standing in front of a run-down building with an 'open' sign, but no visible entrance. After circling around to the carpark, I had to call to find out how to get in through the back into a outdoor seating area. The pub itself looked a bit ordinary. We were the first customers, and our chicken parma was served quickly, in less than 10 minutes. It seemed like it may have been pre-cooked and microwaved. The portion size was good and it tasted decent, but the chips were not as crispy as I would have liked and the salad was mediocre. The price was reasonable at per person, but the meal was served on cheap-looking melamine plates. Overall, it was okay for a one-time experience, but I wouldn't recommend it as a treat for a friend.
