I ended up at Empress of China because Shanghai Village next door was closed. I was pleasantly surprised by my experience and enjoyed it so much that I returned again.

I highly recommend the dumplings at this place - they are absolutely delicious! Although it can get a bit noisy and the decor is not very impressive, the menu has a lot of options and the dumplings are truly authentic.

The dumplings here are good - not the best in Chinatown by a long shot, but excellent value. Plates of steamed vegetarian, pork or prawn dumplings never disappoint, and having them alongside Chinese broccoli with garlic sauce makes for a good cheap meal. This is a great venue to have a few drinks before you head out - their BYO policy is pretty loose. Not the friendliest service, the best decor or the roomiest tables... but if you can deal with that, you'll enjoy good cheap eats in an awesome location.

Looking for a place to eat that wasn't too expensive we landed on this restaurant. Prices are affordable and they have a good variety of dishes on the menu. The place does need a makeover, very rustic looking. The service was ok; however they forgot 1 dish we ordered and we had to ask for it to be brought to the table.
