Encore Bar and Restaurant - Melbourne

We were staying at the Grand Chancellor, and thought we'd check out the Encore Restaurant, based on the menu we saw. The restaurant itself has a lovely ambiance and the candles on the table were lovely. We ordered the seafood tasting plate for 2 and it was scrumptious. The staff were really friendly and attentive, without being over the top. We decided to eat there again on our last night in Melbourne, taking advantage of their $19 steaks. Both were cooked to our requirements, and once again we were impressed by all of the staff. The Turkish Delight Cheesecake was worth the calories. Would definitely eat here again.

We tried this restaurant on a Groupon deal and will definitely be going back. The menu, although not huge, covered all tastes with a leaning towards steak. We had seen a couple of main meals being served as we arrived and as they looked quite large we decided not to have an entree, wise move on our part. My partner had the rib eye steak, served on the bone with a side of mushrooms and chips. This was really big enough for two but he did manfully manage to get through just about all of it. I had the fish and chips with a side greek salad, again it was huge. He said the steak was perfectly cooked and delicious and my rockling was great, as was the salad but sadly I just couldn't manage all that or the chips. We opted to share one desert between us, the sorbet

We have been to Encore a few times and the food is always excellent. It is very good value with some excellent options. They have good Gluten Free options. This is an ideal place close to some of Melbourne's theatre's to eat before going to a show. The service is friendly. I would recommend you give it a try, you will be very pleasantly surprised.

Walked past the Grand Chancellor in the day and noticed their board advetising the nightly special at Encore Bar and Restaurant of sirloin steak for $19. So we went there that night. The restaurant had soft mood lighting and table service. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. There was a good selection of wines from all over Australia to accompany our meal. We both had the special with salad, as it only came with chips on the menu. The steak was cooked to perfection and exactly as requested.We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and came back several nights later this time adding desert and coffee to our fare. The chocolate desert is highly recommended.
