Family Tea House Prahran - Melbourne

Although not considered a high-end establishment in the city, this quaint restaurant offers great food and service with attentive staff and a good variety of menu options. Some of the dishes could have been served hotter in temperature, but overall the flavors were enjoyable.

Family Tea House is my families go to for Chinese food. The decor is pure Hong Kong eatery. Nothing special other than an abundance of red light shades. But we do go there for the interior design. We go because the food is the BEST. I lived in Hong Kong for 14 years, so I can say that the food is authentic. Even more than that it is simply delicious. We drive to go there. A 20 min trip each way. We drive past other Chinese restaurants that are quite good but just not as good as FTH. The two staff are also very nice. Very quick with service very efficient. My advice is go with a group of at least 5 or more. Order a dish each to share because that’s the Chinese way to eat sample the fabulous variety of the food on offer. Highly recommend the Duck San Choy Bao, the Mongolian Beef, the Chicken Ribs with Salt Chilli, the Salt Pepper Calamari the best Special Fried Rice ever. As good as from any restaurants in Hong Kong. If not better!

Was excellent. The steamed Barramundi was cooked to perfection. Im not a big dumpling fan but, did try the prawn and pork and the chicken, was wonderful. Very friendly owners. Would return and recommend. Thankyou
