The dining experience from beginning to end was awful. While the man at the front door was friendly, it felt like it was just part of his job. We made the mistake of ordering the set 3-course menu, which included a tapas platter with jamon, chewy calamari, thin slices of cheese and eggplant, and jarred olives that were forgotten until later. The paella was overcooked and not enjoyable to eat. The dessert, Spanish donuts (churros), were disappointing as they were clearly store-bought and served cold and oily. When we questioned this, the waiter initially lied but eventually admitted that they were ordered in. The fact that a Spanish restaurant cannot even make their own donuts was shocking. When we asked to speak to management, they simply walked out the front door without addressing our concerns. It was a truly disappointing experience for our group of three females. Overall, I do not understand the positive reviews as I would rate this restaurant very poorly.
A few months ago, we dined at Fish Dish and had a great experience. We decided to revisit with some friends, and I'm pleased to say it was just as enjoyable the second time around. We opted for the $38 Paella package, which included a selection of small Tapas, a generous portion of delicious seafood Paella with salad, and a fruit plate for dessert. The presentation of the food was impressive and the flavors were delightful. The drinks were reasonably priced and the service, while a bit unenthusiastic, was efficient and friendly.
This is one of the city's hidden gems. It's tucked away on Little Bourke, near Ginger Boy Long Grain, downstairs under street level. The room dressed with an amazing array of beautiful fish shaped dishes... Hence the name! It's small the open kitchen gives you a view of all the action as the chefs work away to prepare the fare. We opted for the giant spanish paella in the window. It smelled incredible, and the favour didn't let us down. It was worth it! We started with a delightful tapas, and the paella came with a fresh garden salad... I did love the donuts for dessert! Overall it was yum, the hustle and bustle of a small busy restaurant, great attention to detail. Best of all really really good value, the three courses included sangria! If your after a no fuss, tasty easy meal for $38 buck. Keep it up :
We used a lunch voucher at this restaurant and found it to be excellent value. We both ordered the porterhouse steak and shared the mixed entree, which were both delicious. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was pleasant and relatively quiet. The restaurant is located next to the Crossley Hotel.
