Contribuisci feedbackI went here for a spanish cooking class. This is not the first cooking class I have done but this is the first time I feel ripped off. Here are some things you should know:- There were 21 students, even though the website says a maximum of 14.- There were no toilet facilities. I had to go to the South Melbourne Market.- There was no communication about the meeting point, we arrived at the address and had to call them to find out it was in a different location.- The kitchen facilities: a 5sqm room, not enough utensils or tables for everyone, not enough aprons for everyone, not enough ingredients for everyone, 2 portable gas burners were used for cooking. Nothing like what is shown on the website.- The "shopping" session in which we were supposedly meant to be instructed on what to buy for cooking, was a short and cheap buy of six (6) lemons; ten (10) tomatoes; two (2) capsicums plus a couple of fruits, among other things. How was this meant to be enough for 21 people?- This was meant to be a cooking class, but instead the cook did all the work (apart from some chopping) since there were not enough ingredients and utensils. We were not able to see what the cook was doing anyway because there were too many people in a tiny room. It was difficult to move or see anything. In short, you will learn more about how to make Spanish food from a youtube video than from going to this class!
Warm reception, like the pizza - gigantic and crispyLike also their local wine selection: L'Estival - Vin de pays Charentais.
If you are interested in learning Spanish, I highly recommend visiting Mia at The Spanish Cat for lessons in St Kilda. Mia is an exceptional teacher who is kind, fun, helpful, and patient. I was recommended to study with Mia when I wanted to start learning Spanish, and I was extremely satisfied with my experience. I observed Mia working with students of various backgrounds and learning levels in our class, and she was incredibly patient with those who were struggling while also providing extra support for fast learners. Everyone in the class greatly appreciated Mia as a teacher. If you are thinking about attending a Spanish school, I urge you to come here and meet Mia!
I was an absolute beginner at the start of the year and have completed the 1A and 1B Spanish classes with the lovely Mia. The first course was in person at St Kilda and second was virtual on Zoom. Mia is a real gem she always makes the classes fun and interesting and is so supportive and a great teacher. I can’t speak highly enough of Mia thank you!!
So far I have completed levels 1A and 1B at The Spanish Cat in St Kilda with Mia as my teacher. I have thoroughly enjoyed these classes and learnt a lot. It is my first time learning Spanish so at first I was nervous but it is definitely doable for a beginner. You learn a wide variety of things and Mia also makes the classes fun, not taking it too seriously but giving us a little bit of homework each week to help us continue to practice. I have also made some great new friends from my classes. I am starting level 2 this week and plan to continue on to improve my Spanish : I believe it is good value for money, with the school offering a discount multiple times of the year for each level. I would highly recommend this class/school to anyone wanting to learn and also have some fun!
