Lourinhã - Melbourne

We dined at the NGV pop up. I wanted to try this restaurant for a while and am very sad and disappointed. We ordered $85 set menu for two. The dishes were uninteresting to say the least. First, why serve two different tapas both with olives as main ingredient really bad bad olives, I had to spit one out it was inedible and bread no olive oil or butter or anything . Empty wine glasses were sitting on our table for an hour. Pace of service terrible Tapas came all at once without wine even being poured and then it took so long to get our mains. Apart from sub par service which I can forgive, the food was so bad. Cold prawns in oily rice? No flavour to be seen anywhere. For a 200 dollar meal go somewhere else, it was not worth it.

I visited Bar Lourinha at NGV after the Picasso exhibition. It was fantastic. Food was excellent and staff was kind, professional, efficient I cannot stress enough how great they were.

How underwhelming!!! $85 for a SET MENU of really substandard food and TINY portions? Spanish food? I don’t think so.The positives: Beautiful dining bar. Lovely view.The negatives: Haphazard service. They kept forgetting to bring out the food. All the SET MENUS were seated in the same section so food was coming out en masse and they kept forgetting who got what. The food was tiny and unpleasant. Slightly bitter olives with two tiny pieces of bread. Anchovies that were not entirely fresh? Watery risotto. The beef cheek was utterly awful it tasted like a cheap, nasty cut of meat. The only edible thing was a tiny bowl (to share) of chickpeas and spinach. One of the courses was ricotta on bread with lemon. So bad it was comical!Dine elsewhere.
