The restaurant is small, and it can get stuffy and hot in the summer if the air conditioning is not turned on. The service is slow, and the chicken tends to sell out quickly. Make sure to arrive early.
I recently discovered the best chicken rice and Es Bandung in Melbourne. I was unsure of what to order, but the friendly staff recommended the classic chicken rice with Hainan Chicken and Chili, along with a flavorful soup. The soup was well-balanced and tasted like a rich broth, not watered down at all. The chicken was plump, juicy, and tender, just as the staff had described. The rice was fluffy and not dry. The Es Bandung and Tarik were also a perfect complement to the meal, not too sweet or too bitter. Despite the unlimited menu selection and simple building, the food truly nailed authenticity.
The restaurant may not have the most impressive building, but the service is incredibly friendly and the food is authentically delicious. While there may not be a wide variety of options, I ordered the nasi lemak and found it to be tasty and not too spicy. It's a great option for a satisfying lunch if you work nearby.
This place has the best chicken rice in melbourne that's the closest to those back home in singapore!! I love their curry puffs as well that have a good combination of curry, potatoes and egg but the price of one small curry puff is a little steep at $3!
Chicken rice is not bad but porion size is quite small. Their seating is also very limited. Their curry puffs though are so good. The original flavour is my favourite, reminds me of Singapore! The pastry is flaky and fragrant and the spices are spot on. If only it was in a better, more accessible location with more parking!
