Obento Japanese Cuisine - Melbourne

I stumbled upon this restaurant randomly and was pleasantly surprised by how delicious their Bento boxes are. They are offered at a great price and the portions are also generous. I ordered the Gyu-Tan Don for takeout dinner and it was absolutely delicious. I look forward to returning to try out the other Bento box options on the menu.

I tried the chicken teriyaki and it was delicious. The portion size was generous, enough to fill me up at lunch. It was crowded during lunchtime but the service was quick.

The portion sizes are generous, offering great value for the price and high quality ingredients. I ordered the teriyaki don beef, and it was served promptly in about 3 minutes. The dish had a delicious flavor and just the right amount of food.

Good, honest, reasonable Japanese fare.If you come after 3pm, there are sushi specials - 3 rolls for $5Okonomiyaki - probably one of the best ones with a super killer sauce.Gyoza - probably one of the juiciest and fattest gyozas with heaps of fillings.Sushi rolls - probably one of the fattest sushi rolls with the softest rice and generous fillings.Probably one of the reasonable Japanese places selling such good sushis with reasonable amount of fillings at a great price - under $3 a roll.Funky music too!!WILL BE BACK!!

The portion size is generous and the place was packed with students, usually a good sign that the food is cheap and cheerful. I had the special rice dish which was so plentiful it meant I couldn't finish the additional chicken skewers I had purchased. My partner was not so fortunate as her dish was soaked with soy sauce which ruined it as far as she was concerned, i.e. no flavour other than soy. She ended up just eating the meat with my rice! Water was going to be drunk from polystyrene cups(?), which is a big no-no as far as we are concerned, but they did find more solid replacements for us.
