From the team behind the popular local Town Hall Hotel, Salt brings quality seafood to bustling Errol Street. Previously another fish and chip shop, Salt has completely renovated the interior with a sweeping tiled counter and bar seating surrounding the kitchen area and tables along the wall on one side. The timber furnishings and hanging lighting is almost reminiscent of a cafe. Outdoor communal benches complete the overall concept of a fish and chip shop that you can go to sit down and hang out at.
Came here with no expectations. But surprisingly food was great. Fish was very crispy. Scallops were very nice too. If it’s a larger portion, it’d be even better.
Good food...not too greasy and nice people. Calamari is tender. Good decor. Located at the south end of Errol street, the hub of north melbourne village, and close to the city.
This restaurant is the ideal spot for a local takeout. The fish is mouthwatering, the cheeseburgers are just right, and the chips are perfectly crispy. I've never had a meal here that didn't please, and it's excellent value for the price.
I was really excited to try out this trendy fish and chip shop after recently moving to the area and craving some deep fried cuisine. I came across salt and was drawn in by the beautiful brunette working inside. Without hesitation, I decided to go in and order the dinner pack. I was pleasantly surprised by the freshness of the chips and the perfectly cooked fish with clean and crisp batter. The portion size was generous and even included a bonus potato cake. It seemed like the brunette may have had a crush on me, as sneaking in an extra potato cake felt like a flirtatious gesture. I look forward to returning to this place many more times. Overall, I love being a local and enjoying great food at salt. Cheers!
