I had never tasted Malaysian cuisine before, but it turned out to be reminiscent of Thai food. I ordered a lemongrass soup and seafood fried rice, both of which were bursting with a rich lemongrass taste. The meal was surprisingly affordable and while the food wasn't high-end, it was delicious.
Dropped by on a Saturday lunch do nice and quiet and pigged out on Nasi Lemak and Char Kway Teow Good service great value and good solid food
Open till late 11:30pm along elizabeth street, across the street from Hometown supermarket. Large serve. $9.80-12. You will love the beef rendang TOP up with an egg and you will also love the Tea (Tek Tarik), authentic Malaysian. Service is fast. Value for money! Don't...forget to try the famous Malaysian dessert BurBur Cha Cha. So Glad we found this eatery!
Being from the part of Sydney that I live there are zero options for authenic Malaysian cuisine however the part of Melbourne that were were staying we were spoilt for choice. We picked this place at complete random and I was a little worried that...at that time we were the only people dining in the restaurant but the small dining area quickly filled up not long after we arrived. I love chicken rice and it have never had a good one in Sydney but Sambal Kampung did not disappoint. Dinner was very authentic and very reasonably priced. Will definitely be back for more chicken rice!!
A brilliant little hole in the wall serving Malaysian! Love the Beef Rendang special (the beef is so tender), Laksas are huge and flavourful, Chicken Rice is spot on and I go every other day for lunch. Great for take away or sit at the...tables.
