Carolyn and Elfie are fantastic always smiling and chatting to all that enter the cafe, the food is made with love and fresh.You can ring and order your coffee and Elfie will have it ready for you when you arrive. I recommend trying their cakes and snacks as well .

This new Coffee and Sandwich café has quickly become established on Flinders Street. It offers excellent coffee, food and warm hospitality. In the midst of the corporate business towers, Son of the Bean is an oasis to enjoy a coffee and a chat, whether you are a city resident, tourist or just escaping your office for a while. Coffee is taken seriously and delivered with precision. Just try to find a better double shot espresso in the many cafes around the area!!! There are lots of food offerings but the team will happily adjust the menu to what you may need. Highly recommended!! Alfie is also French speaking.

My partner and I were staying just down the road. We headed out for coffee and we're pleasantly surprised by what we found. It is a lovely family owned business that is run by a mother and her son. The service was outstanding and is much nicer to be treated so personally compared to some bigger cafes. To top off the experience I loved the fact that they were supporting other local businesses, in particular Green Pastures milk! Thank you for an awesome, day making experience.

I love grabbing my morning AND afternoon coffee from Alfie and Carolyn at Son of the Bean (awesome mother and son family owned business). I never manage to leave without sampling the rest of the food on offer. If you are concious of ingredients but love a little naughty treat you absolutely have to try the gluten free selection of slices and cakes. You seriously won't believe them! I've tried just about everything in this little gem from a quick take away home made breakfast muesli and yoghurt made by Carolyn to the salads, lebanese pastries and cheesy toasties, made fresh where you choose your own fillings. A special shout out to Alfie though who hands down makes the best coffee in town. I've even managed to switch off dairy to soy with a smooth transition due to Alfie's Soy Mocha's (something I had been trying ot do for the past two years). The nicest place to stop for chat and a bite to eat. Love it here!
