Stavros Tavern - Melbourne

Great authentic style simple and tasty Greek food, with a modern touch, simple flavours, cold beer and just a nice nostalgic night. After 37 years, after this weekend there will be no more!

This is our 3rd visit to Stavros, and each time we visit it's as excellent as the last! Its as the name states unpretentious Greek food.. we had the banquet and were treated to an array of Greek flavored dips and pickled octopus, followed by saganaki drizzled with fresh lemon (which is fried cheese)..if you havent tried it do your self a favour and try it! We then moved into a flavour by the sea with lightly floured calamari and an ouzo and tomato flavoured fish, served with a fresh greek salad..to complete the banquet we were given platters of fresh yiros meat of chicken and lamb with fresh tatziki! Did i mention that they were even able to offer GF pita bread as well as pretty much everything being served as GF.. will definitely be back again lovely local authentic Greek food!

Warm welcome. Feels like regular customers when it was our first visit.Food was tasty and portion size enough. We shared the small share plate, saganaki and spinach and feta filo pastry entree. We also shared to 2 mains of goat and lamb. Greek salad and 2 glasses of red. Total came to $131.50 for 3 of us. Very full and satisfied.Paid by Amex. No credit card surcharge. Will be back.

Oh, what a food ! Mmmmm. Delicious every time. Love it ! You can feel, that chef love what his doing. Simple but the best! We're and we'll be back .

We discovered Stavros Tavern on our last night in Melbourne. Although it looked small from the outside, it was actually pretty big within. We were immediately made to feel welcome and seated quickly. The food was delicious and authentic. It was our daughter's first experience of Greek food, and she loved it. Had we discovered this restaurant earlier, we would have returned.
