The chips seemed to be supermarket frozen crinkle cut chips and the salad was pretty much just lettuce and onion. At a glance the menu looked ok and the prices are quite reasonable but when it came to choosing something that wasn't burger or pizza it didn't leave much choice. And there seems to be a lot of pickled this or that on the menu. The dining area was dark and disappointing as there was no view of the water. The outdoor seating area would be nice on a warm day - but just for drinks - wouldn't recommend it for the food. Service was fine - staff pleasant.
Received a red balloon voucher as a wedding gift. We where told that they booked out quickly. I was a little unsure if they only booked so many red balloon voucher and wanted public customers. However. Onto the food. For the value of the voucher we had great bang for your buck. The salt and pepper squid was lovely. It wasn't stringy and had a nice accompanying sauce. The main meal which we had the steak and the pizza. I have had better pizzas but the steak was cooked perfectly and the peppercorn sauce had a good bite to it. Which I loved. Desert was also great. Throughly enjoyed the sticky date pudding. One let down was the espresso martini. They need to work on this cocktail. It lacked taste, texture and the temperature could have been colder. On a positive note the red balloon voucher is a great gift for someone you don't know what to get. Keep up the good work.
We came to this part of town for the shopping but decided we didn't want to eat in the DFO food court so wandered outside, eventually heading across the river to the Wharf hotel. From outside it looked empty but once inside they had an elevated section of booths that was almost full. The menu was not super extensive but broad enough to allow for various dietary intolerances. I had the chicken parmigiana which was quite reasonable and my friend had a gluten free burger that was apparently nice as well. Staff seemed a bit taken aback at how busy it was as I suspect most people had walked in without a booking but apart from a long delay when we tried to get someone's attention to be seated they otherwise seemed to be coping ok.
We receiced a red balloon voucher as a gift and did read some reviews before we attended. The menu was different to the offerings on the red balloon website and that was definitely disappointing. We found the food underwhelming to say the least but unfortunately expected as much. The dessert was exceptional however and the service was a highlight. The cocktails and wine was a nice addition. The food was just a let down, especially the fish. I wouldn't recommend this voucher.
