Thien An - Melbourne

There are so many Vietnamese and Asian restaurants around this area and this makes it so hard to choose a good one. Thien An is in a central position, opposite the railway station. It presents as a modest and clean restaurant but the food and service are honest and well priced. The pho was filling and full of traditional flavour and at $10 very good value. The bbq pork rice paper rolls were divine. There are better Vietnamese restaurants around but after my second visit here I can say that it is very good and worth putting on your short list.

This place is big, clean but can get noisy when busy. I love number 74. Stir-fried Rice noodles or Egg noodles with vegetables and tofu (v) $15. Big serves. I suggest you also try the pancakes, they can feed two people. Every table has a thermos of tea. Staff can struggle with English but very friendly. Waiting time is average especially is you're waiting for takeaway. I always phone ahead so food is ready when I get there. Food is fresh, tasty and generous.

This food is sooooo tasty and fresh and hot. Such a simple atmosphere to eat in with amazing variety.

I have always lived in Footscray and it takes a lot for me to venture out to try something new. But did not regret the experience one bit. We ordered a mixture of items to share but each dish was better than the other. The quails are highly recommended. Prices are fair and service great. Will definitely be visiting this place more often
