When we tried to order a specific microbrew that was listed we were told that that keg isn 't tapped yet with no offer to actually get us the beer. Wife asked if perhaps the bottle she 'd gotten might have just been put in the fridge and asked if there was a beer that might actually be cold. Our server just shrugged and said 'They all like that . So we start off with warm beer. Then we get our Oysters as an app, which had a really, really good flavor. But they were cold (fried oysters), so an otherwise very good appetizer was not very good at all. Beers sat empty, had to flag the waitress down to order another, and then was 10-15 minutes before they came out. She was friendly, but just not very good at her job. Meatballs didn 't have a lot of flavor, wings were decent, the prime rib dip was ok, fries were pretty good. None of it was especially hot, but unlike the oysters, most of it was at least warm. All in all the service was poor, food was very mediocre, and our tab for what was listed above (4 beers at $2 each, three appetizers, a sandwich, and two glasses of wine) was $80. Will not be back. Expensive, food was not good, beer was warm, service was poor.
Let me start by admitting that I judged this book by it's cover, and my expectations were high. I generally trying new places, and I had looked ahead at the menu online since I had a baby with me and wanted to be able to order as quickly as everyone else. Initial thoughts: The hostess didn't know what Open Table was, but was very nice and she made sure to get it right. She sat us in a nice quiet booth, and that was great. The menu had changed, so we asked the waiter about it. He said that they had a new menuas of a few weeks previous, and the web guy probably just hadn't gotten around to changing it yet. Unfortunately, that meant I was extremely limited by my random food allergies. : I got the fried chicken and grits. It was ok not amazing, but good enough), but my friend got fish and polenta sticks. The polenta sticks were tepid and gritty, and the fish had skin on it inside the fried breadding. It wasn't good at all. The waiter and the guy he was training were very nice and efficient. If the menu and food been good, this would have been a rave review; however, this place is too expensive to serve bad food.
Food was greasy and very heavy on overpowering sauces. Beer section the best thing about this place.
The food portions were huge! Everything was excellent. I was disappointed they had almost no wine, and the person who seated us told us that they had never heard of OpenTable, even though I had made our reservations through OpenTable. Reservations weren't necessary as we were the only table in the restaurant. I wouldn't go back, but I think the college crowd (and just post-college) and beer lovers would really enjoy this place.
Staff seemed to be struggling to do their jobs. Food was fair but nothing special at all. Collard greens were good. We probably won't go back. This place seems more like it wants to be a night time bar. The place appeared to be squinting its eyes to stay open in the daylight hours. Might be a great nighttime venue.
