River Oaks - Memphis

What a letdown. This was my first visit with Chef Gutierrez, and it didn't go well. My waitress was neither attentive nor friendly. Between when my drinks arrived and when I was finally able to place my order—which required me to ask someone to find her for the second time—the table next to me had already ordered, enjoyed their appetizers, and were nearly finished with their meals. She never offered an apology, and I had to chase her down for assistance each time, despite the fact that I was her only table (she was also working at the empty bar area). This is not a suitable place for children; even the chicken tenders are not a good option. I ordered Chicken Paillard, but my daughter wouldn't even try it. The waitress didn't acknowledge this at all. I was really disappointed, especially since I've had positive experiences at this restaurant in the past.

I went in to ask if I could order a dessert since both Google and the sign on the door indicated they were open until 10 PM. However, as I walked past other patrons, the bartender declared, "We're closed!" I explained that I wasn’t looking for a table, just a dessert, and reminded them that the hours on the door indicated they were still open. To this, I was told that it was a mistake. So, they had incorrect information on both Google and the restaurant door? All this for being denied a dessert just 30 minutes before closing time. This restaurant is located in my neighborhood, and I used to enjoy it, but after this experience, I don’t think I’ll return. I’ve also heard that they don’t seem to be welcoming to people like me.

This is a great spot for dining and chatting with friends. The Monday special of lobster and pasta in a light cream sauce was absolutely delicious. Others at the table enjoyed the scallops and pasta as well. The service was excellent, and we could actually hear each other talk! I’ll definitely return on my next visit to Memphis. Food: 5/5

The food here is absolutely fantastic! My friend and I visited for a girls' night, and we were really impressed with the dishes. They also offer a variety of healthy options on the menu. The customer service was excellent as well. I would give the food a perfect 5 out of 5!

Nice atmosphere and great service. I had a good French 75, people at my table ordered mojitos and had to ask for simple syrup. TV dinner was great, but it’s different day to day. Other than that, other people at table ordered French dip and the pastrami sandwiches, liked them! Great restaurant overall!Food: 5/5
