La Villa de Chine - Menton

We visited this restaurant once during our 5-day chin visit. it was almost empty on this occasion and even every time we passed it afterwards. It seemed to contrast strongly with its busy Italian neighbour, but this contrast is probably to be expected only in a city so close to the Italian border. We started our meal with a assortment of dim sum and found that this dish between us made a wide entrance. for the main dishes, my wife had fried shrimp in paste, while I had duck in a hot spring. We had fried rice with eggs to accompany the meal. the shrimps were copied and well cooked. I was less impressed by my duck that was fat, and I didn't particularly like the sauce even if it could be a matter of personal taste. The rice was good on the other hand. to accompany our meal, we had half a bottle of burgundy that was really not terrible. The lady who served us was helpful and friendly throughout our meal. overall not bad but not good enough to get us back running.

Over the past two years, we have visited this small restaurant several times, the last time here in September/October and we have never been disappointed. You are always received by moon, the most charming of Chinese hosts, with a big smile. her husband is in the kitchen where he prepares the most delicious Chinese and Thai dishes. quality is at the top, well prepared and at reasonable prices and always served with smile. when the moon is at service, you also benefit from a small Chinese language education.

It was our first visit to this restaurant and we had the best meal during our stay in chin. the atmosphere was relaxed and the staff was very attentive. The lady who served us went in four to try to take a taxi to bring us back to our hotel.

It is so nice to find places without pretension like this, a warm staff serving excellent Chinese cuisine. The kind of place you'll ever come back. we went there only twice a week, but every time again to chin, no doubt that the China villa will be at the top of the list. the most pleasant lunch and dinner of our stay.

I've eaten here several times over the years and I'm still going back. food is excellent, the price is reasonable. service is very warm and friendly.
